Class, Component and Type Names in PascalCase
Typical names written the way object-oriented code expects. Copy takes the PascalCase form; Edit in tool restores the original phrase for experimenting.
What Is PascalCase?
Quick answer: PascalCase joins words into a single name and starts every word, including the first, with a capital letter, so shopping cart item becomes ShoppingCartItem. It takes its name from the Pascal programming language, which popularised the style, and is also called upper camel case.
The only difference from camelCase is the very first letter: PascalCase opens with a capital, camelCase with a small letter.
In most programming languages, the capital at the start carries meaning. It marks a name as a type rather than a value: a class, an interface, an enum, or a UI component. React even depends on it, treating any tag that starts with a capital as a component. This converter produces PascalCase from any input style and adds two generators for the moments you need it most: naming a new component with its files and writing an enum from a list of values.

How Do You Write Names in PascalCase?
- Type the names: Plain words or any coding style, one name per line.
- Pick an acronym rule: HttpClient, or IOStream if you follow .NET guidance.
- Press PascalCase: Every line becomes one capitalized name.
- Copy or generate: Use the names, or build files and enums from them.

PascalCase Examples
| Input | PascalCase | camelCase |
| invoice generator | InvoiceGenerator | invoiceGenerator |
| date_range_picker | DateRangePicker | dateRangePicker |
| side-menu | SideMenu | sideMenu |
| JSONParser | JsonParser | jsonParser |
Variables and functions usually start lowercase; name them with the camel case converter.
Where Is PascalCase Used in Programming?
| Language or framework | PascalCase names |
| C# and .NET | Classes, methods, properties, namespaces, enums |
| Java and Kotlin | Classes, interfaces, enums |
| TypeScript | Classes, interfaces, type aliases, enums |
| React, Vue and Svelte | Component names and their files |
| Python | Class names (functions use snake_case) |
| Go | Exported names, visible outside their package |
| Pascal and Delphi | Most identifiers, where the style began |
Python functions and SQL columns need underscores; use the snake case converter.
How Do You Handle Acronyms in PascalCase?
Microsoft's .NET design guidelines offer a clear rule: an acronym of two letters keeps both capitals, as in IOStream, while longer ones capitalize only the first letter, as in HtmlParser and XmlDocument. Many other style guides simply treat every acronym as a word, giving IoStream. Both are readable; the important thing is not to mix them. Tick the .NET acronym rule on the toolbar to follow Microsoft's convention, or leave it off for the simpler approach.
Why Must React Components Use PascalCase?
JSX uses the first letter of a tag to decide what it is. A lowercase tag such as div is treated as a built-in HTML element, while a capitalized tag such as UserCard is treated as a component you defined. Name a component userCard, and React will try to render an unknown HTML element instead. Vue and Svelte recommend PascalCase component names too, and most teams match the file name to the component, which is what the Component Name Generator writes for you.
Angular file names and CSS classes use hyphens; convert them with the kebab case converter.
When Is a PascalCase Converter Useful?
- Starting a feature: name the new classes and components consistently.
- Database to code: turn table names such as order_items into OrderItems models.
- API types: name interfaces for the objects an API returns.
- Enums: convert a list of statuses or categories into enum members.
- Code reviews: fix names that break the project's convention.
- Teaching: show students how the same name looks in each style.
PascalCase Glossary
Upper camel case
Another name for PascalCase.
Class
A blueprint for objects, usually named in PascalCase.
Component
A reusable piece of interface, such as a button or card.
Enum
A type with a fixed set of named values, such as order statuses.
Interface
A description of the shape an object must have.
Exported name
In Go, a capitalized name that other packages can use.
What Does This PascalCase Tool Include?
Bulk names
One per line, any input style.
Acronym rule
Optional .NET convention.
Valid names
Leading digits fixed.
Component files
React, Vue, Angular, C#.
Enum builder
Five languages.
Snippets
Classes, JSX tags, properties.
Have a list of statuses or categories?
Turn it into a TypeScript, C#, Java, Python, or Swift enum in one paste.
PascalCase Names Not Coming Out Right?
| Problem | Explanation | Fix |
| JSON became Json | Acronyms are treated as words | That matches most guides; edit by hand if your project keeps JSON |
| IO became Io | The .NET rule is switched off | Tick the .NET acronym rule |
| A name begins with _ | It started with a number | Put a word before the number |
| An enum member is missing | Its line contained only symbols | Give every value at least one letter or digit |
Tips for Naming Classes and Components
Use nouns
Classes and components are things: InvoiceList, not ShowInvoices.
Avoid vague suffixes
Manager and Helper hide what a class really does.
Match file and name
ProductCard lives in ProductCard.tsx so it is easy to find.
Singular for enums
OrderStatus.Delivered reads better than OrderStatuses.Delivered.
PascalCase Converter FAQ
What is a PascalCase converter?
A converter producing capitalized, space-free names such as OrderItem from any input.
What does PascalCase look like?
Words joined without spaces, each one capitalized: UserProfile, HttpClient, ShoppingCart.
Why is it called PascalCase?
It was popularised by the Pascal programming language, where identifiers were commonly written this way.
Is PascalCase the same as upper camel case?
Yes. The two terms describe the same style.
PascalCase or camelCase: what sets them apart?
Only the first letter. PascalCase starts with a capital; camelCase starts with a small letter.
Can snake_case names become PascalCase?
Yes. Each underscore marks a fresh word, which is how order_item ends up as OrderItem.
What is PascalCase used for?
Mostly for type names: classes, interfaces, enums, and UI components.
Does C# use PascalCase?
Yes. Classes, methods, properties, and namespaces in C# are written in PascalCase.
Should React components be PascalCase?
They must be, because JSX treats lowercase tags as plain HTML elements.
Does Python use PascalCase?
Only for class names. Python functions and variables use snake_case.
How should acronyms look in PascalCase?
Either as words (HtmlParser) or, under .NET rules, two-letter acronyms in capitals (IOStream).
What is the .NET acronym rule?
Two-letter acronyms stay fully capitalized; acronyms of three or more letters capitalize only the first letter.
Can I generate React component file names?
Yes. The Component Name Generator lists the component, test, and style files plus a starter export.
Does it support Vue and Angular?
Yes. Vue gets a .vue file; Angular gets kebab-case files and a PascalCase class ending in Component.
How do I make an enum from a list?
Put one value per line in the Enum Builder, name the enum, and pick your language.
Why are Java enum members in capitals?
Java convention writes enum constants in CONSTANT_CASE, so the builder follows it.
What happens to names that start with a digit?
The tool prefixes an underscore, as a leading digit makes most identifiers invalid.
Can I convert names back to plain words?
Yes. The back-to-words button splits each name and lowers it.
Is the PascalCase converter free?
Yes. The converter, component generator, and enum builder are free and need no account.
Does my code leave my computer?
No. All names and snippets are generated in your browser.
Can I use the tool on a phone?
Yes, though writing code snippets is easier on a larger screen.
