What Is a Big Text Generator?

Quick answer: a big text generator makes words look larger than the surrounding text without changing the font size, which chat apps do not allow. It does this in three ways: drawing giant letters out of characters (ASCII banners), building letters from emoji, and using tall Unicode capitals or a platform’s own heading syntax.

Chat boxes, comment fields and bios lock every message to the same size. The only way to stand out is to change what the letters are made of. Banner art, also known as FIGlet text after the 1991 program that popularised it, stacks five rows of blocks so each letter becomes a small picture.

This page combines all the routes in one place. The banner maker lets you draw letters with solid blocks, shading, your own letters or hearts, double the size, and wrap the result in a code block so Discord keeps every column aligned. The emoji pixel tool builds the same shapes from coloured squares for apps without monospace text, and the platform helper tells you the real largest size Discord, Reddit, Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Instagram allow.

• 45 Characters in the banner font
• 11 Emoji pixel colours
• 7 Platform size guides

How Do You Make Big Letters in a Chat?

1. Keep it short: Two to eight characters read best as a banner.
2. Choose the type of big: Text banner, emoji pixels, emoji letters, capitals, or a heading.
3. Check the width: The banner maker warns when a line is wider than a phone screen.
4. Paste it: Use a code block on Discord so the columns stay straight.

Which Kind of Big Text Should I Use?

Type	Example	Strength	Weak spot
Text banner	█ shapes over 5 lines	Truly huge, pure text	Needs a monospace font to stay aligned
Emoji pixels	🟥⬜ grids	Aligned in any app, colourful	Long; heavy on character limits
Emoji letters	🇬 🇬	One emoji per letter	Pairs can turn into flags without a separator
Bold or full-width capitals	𝗕𝗜𝗚 ＢＩＧ	Works in names and bios	Same height as normal text
Heading syntax	# Big	Really large font size	Only in apps with Markdown

Once your banner is posted, give the rest of the message some flair with the Discord font generator, which handles bold, spoilers, and code formatting.

When Do People Need Huge Text?

• Gaming servers: GG, victory, and clutch moments in Discord chats.
• Announcements: rules, events, and giveaways at the top of a channel.
• README files and code comments: project names and section dividers in terminals.
• Birthdays and celebrations: group chat messages that feel like a banner on the wall.
• Livestream chat: hype moments on Twitch and YouTube, within length limits.
• Shop posts: SALE or OPEN in big capitals for local business groups.

Big Text Glossary

ASCII art

Pictures made only of text characters, of which banners are the simplest kind.

FIGlet

A classic program that prints words in large letters made of ordinary characters.

Fixed-pitch lettering; without it, banner columns drift apart.

Unicode shapes such as █ ▓ ▒ ░ ▀ ▄ used for solid and shaded pixels.

Regional indicator

The 26 emoji letters 🇦 to 🇿; two in a row form a country flag.

Banners depend on equal character widths; our monospace text tools explain code blocks for every chat app.

Keeps banners straight on Discord.

Why Does My Big Text Look Broken?

What you see	Cause	Fix
Banner letters lean or smear	Letters in this chat font have unequal widths	Tick the backtick option, or switch to emoji pixels
Lines wrap halfway	The banner is wider than the screen	Use fewer letters or a gap of 1
Two letters became a flag	Regional indicators pair up automatically	Use the generator’s version, which adds a hidden separator
Message refused as too long	Emoji count as several characters each	Shorten the word or switch to a text banner
# shows as a symbol	The app has no Markdown headings	Use bold capitals instead

If you need a picture rather than characters, our 3D text generator renders large lettering as a downloadable image.

Tips for Big Text That Gets Noticed

Short words win

GG, WOW, or a first name fit on any phone.

Respect the channel

Many servers limit spam; one banner per moment is plenty.

Contrast pixels

Pick a background emoji that differs strongly from the fill.

Add a plain line

Screen readers cannot read banners, so write the word normally too.

Wide spacing alone can make a name look bigger, so try our full-width text for a calmer, aesthetic version.

Big Text Questions

How do I make my text bigger in Discord?

Start the line with # and a space for the largest heading, or ## and ### for smaller ones. For even larger letters, paste a banner inside a code block.

What is ASCII banner text?

Large letters drawn with ordinary characters across several lines, like a sign made from typed symbols.

Why does my banner look crooked?

Most chat fonts give characters different widths. A code block, made with three backticks, switches to monospace and straightens it.

Can I make big letters on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has no larger font, but emoji pixel letters and bold capitals look big. A message with only one to three emoji also appears enlarged.

How do I write in emoji letters?

Copy Regional Indicator Letters. Each letter becomes a blue emoji tile such as 🇬, with an invisible separator so pairs do not turn into flags.

Why did my emoji letters turn into a flag?

Two regional indicators side by side, such as U and S, combine into a flag unless something sits between them.

What are Discord regional indicator shortcodes?

Codes like :regional_indicator_a: that Discord turns into emoji letters; the shortcode style writes them for you.

How long can a banner be?

About eight to ten letters fit a laptop chat window, and four to six fit a phone before lines wrap.

Will a giant banner fit an Instagram bio?

No, banners are too tall for bios, but bold or full-width capitals work well there.

Does Slack support large headings?

Not in normal messages. Slack users rely on emoji letter packs or bold capitals instead.

How do I make a banner from my own letters?

Choose the letter itself in the banner maker, and each letter is drawn using its own character.

What does the double size option do?

It repeats every pixel twice across and twice down, making a ten-row banner.

Can I put a banner in a GitHub README?

Yes. Wrap it in a fenced code block, so GitHub keeps the spacing, or download it as a text file.

Is big text annoying in chats?

In moderation, it adds fun; many servers have rules against repeated banners, so check before posting.

Do emoji pixel letters count toward character limits?

Yes, heavily. Each coloured square uses two code units, so a short word can pass a thousand characters.

Can screen readers read banner text?

No. They read the individual symbols, so add the word in plain text nearby.

Full-width or bold capitals: which looks larger?

Full-width letters are wider with built-in spacing, while bold capitals are thicker at normal width.

Which characters does the banner font include?

Every capital letter, the ten digits, a space, and the marks! ?,.., -, an apostrophe, a colon, a plus sign, and a ♥ heart.

How do I get keycap numbers like 1️⃣?

Use the Keycap Numbers style; it adds the two hidden characters that turn each digit into a key.

Does this page save my words?

No. Banners are drawn in this tab only, and only starred styles and history are remembered on your device.

Can I use the banners commercially?

Yes. The output is ordinary text you create, so you may use it in streams, shops, or projects without asking.

Rounder shapes suit softer messages, and our bubble letters page has circled and black-circle styles.
